We would like to invite you to be a sponsor of the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program on Long Island. This wonderful program promotes interest in science and technology among our youth between the ages of 9 and 14. Over the past decade, we've grown from less than 20 teams to over 155.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) was the brainchild of the well-known inventor and businessman, Dean Kamen. In the FIRST LEGO League, student teams are given two challenges. They must design an autonomous robot that will gather the most points by completing missions on a 4’ x 8’ playing field. They also research and develop a solution to a problem in keeping with the year’s theme.
School-Business Partnerships of Long Island (SBPLI) is a not-for-profit organization that has been uniting schools and businesses for over 20 years. The FIRST programs are the centerpieces of SBPLI’s mission to prepare Long Island’s youth to meet tomorrow’s engineering and technology workforce needs. Since 1999, SBPLI has supported the LI FIRST Robotics Competition for high school students. In 2005, we started the LI FIRST LEGO League for middle school students.
We need your support to continue this exciting program. Please contact us for information regarding sponsorship opportunities.
