SBPLI to Host FIRST Info Night at Plainview-Old Bethpage Library on July 21

Presenters will Explain the Benefits of All FIRST programs, and the Processes Required to Join or Start a Team

All are welcome to attend the SBPLI FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Info Night on Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m. Parents, teachers, mentors, administrators and community organization leaders are encouraged to attend this informational event, taking place at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, located at 999 Old Country Road in Plainview, New York.

Representatives from SBPLI will be available to explain the full progression of FIRST Long Island programs for Long Island students, age six through 18, including the FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC), FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC), FIRST® LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST® LEGO League Jr. (FLL Jr). Participants will learn how to start teams (please note: we are unable to place individuals on existing teams) and access resources available to assist them. They will also be able to network with others interested in starting new teams.

SBPLI strives to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Involvement in the FIRST robotics programs has been hailed as a unique learning experience and one which teaches students the values of hard work, diligence, problem-solving, socialization, teamwork, gracious professionalism and most importantly, fun.
