SBPLI Hosts FIRST Robotics Info Night for Prospective New Teams and Sponsors on July 30

Parents, Community Groups and School Personnel Are Invited

School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI) is inviting prospective sponsors and parents of robotics team members, as well as community groups and school personnel, to its FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Info Night. The event will take place Thursday, July 30 at 7 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, located at 999 Old Country Road in Plainview, New York.

This year, SBPLI will present the full progression of its FIRST programs, including theFIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) for students ages 6 through 18. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to learn how to start, join or sponsor a team, as well as network with current and prospective coaches, sponsors and board and council members. Resources on the best ways to approach all aspects of the teams will be available at the meeting.

Since 1999, participation in the SBPLI robotics programs has grown to nearly 50 FRC teams. Additionally, almost 2,000 Long Island elementary and middle school students participate in the FIRST LEGO League Qualifying and Championship Tournaments and Jr. FLL Expos each year.

As this will serve as a high-level informative evening, this free event is aimed specifically towards parents, educators and professionals, rather than to students
