School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, is announcing that The Fred Breithut Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at Stonebridge Golf Links and Country Club in Hauppauge. The golf outing is being named in honor of Fred Breithut, Founder and Chairman, SBPLI, who passed away on April 26.

Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start to follow at 1 p.m. This year’s honorees are business consultant James W. Reed and Mark McLeod of Northrop Grumman.

Mr. Reed previously served as Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs. He has been recognized as a humanitarian for his 30 years of community service and his work with more than 150 not-for-profit organizations. He has raised more than $52 million on in-kind donations and has received numerous awards and recognition for his work. In 2008, Mr. Reed was an honoree at SBPLI’S 60 Over 60 Gala.

Mr. McLeod recently celebrated his 30th year at Northrop-Grumman. He is Manager of the Cyber-Warfare Integration Network, which is responsible for distributed weapon system simulations and operations analysis. His volunteer work includes nine years serving the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition (FRC), six years as leader of the Hauppauge High School robotics team and mentor for dozens of other FRC teams. He received the Northrop Grumman’s President’s Award in 2007 and SBPLI’s Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2008.

Tickets are $250 per golfer and $900 per foursome which includes a round of golf, golf carts, lunch and dinner. Tickets are $100 each for full dinner with cocktail hour only (no golf). Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m.
